
Attorney at Law, Electronic communications, competition law and policy
Dr Leonidas Kanellos is an internationally reputable telecoms and media attorney, writer, policy maker and university professor, advising for more than 30 years several European and international public organizations, private operators, standardization authorities and government bodies on EU electronic communications law, privacy, information security and regulatory compliance. He is currently managing a team of lawyers and experts in the above fields.
From 2009 to 2013 he was President of the National Telecommunications Regulatory Authority of Greece (2009-2013) and Chair 2013 of BEREC, the Body of European Regulators for Electronic Communications (and during 2021 and 2011 Vice Chair, competent for international relations).
During his term of office, he has actively contributed to the implementation of the EU fixed/mobile broadband network deployment policies (Digital Agenda). He has also an extensive training activity at the Universities of Piraeus and the University of the Aegean as well as in Data Protection Officers (DPO) and AI Experts Training and Certification.
Leonidas has extensively published in both the international (mainly in English and French) and Greek legal and academic press, authoring numerous monographs, articles, and contribution to books and studies related to the Information Society (Artificial Intelligence, Human Rights, Democracy and Rule of Law (collective book, 2025), The GDPR Handbook (2023), Smart contracts (2022), Artificial Intelligence in Legal practice (2021), Covid-19, Practical issues of legal protection (collective book 2021). He speaks fluently English, French and German and has passive knowledge of Spanish and Italian.
